Winter is the best time to snuggle up in the comfort of your home. And candlelight might just as well be the best mood-maker for those cosy evenings on the sofa. Whether you opt for big and chunky coloured candles or you prefer white, basic candlesticks, in our opinion more is always better when it comes to these bundles of light.
Make your own
Making your own candles isn’t hard at all. The easiest way is to collect the remains of your candles and store them until you have enough to turn them into new ones. Once you’ve collected enough wax, you melt it in a pan (au bain-Marie might be the best way to do this) and strain the melted wax, just to be sure you don’t have any old candle wicks left. Then you put a new candle wick into a glass (or plastic mold, but you’ve got to remove this one after the wax has hardened) and you pour the hot wax in. You can buy wicks in a an arts & crafts shop.
